Those who love fine music will be delighted at the upcoming series of chamber music concerts to be staged at the Melbourne International Arts Festival.
Primus is the Principal Partner of Chamber Music Australia, which will present six one-hour performances at BMW Edge, Federation Square to promote a fresh understanding of this exquisite musical style.
“Chamber Music Australia would not survive without the vision and support of Primus Telecom,” says Benjamin Woodroffe, General Manager of Chamber Music Australia.
Chamber music is a form of classical music written for a small group of instruments and traditionally played in an intimate atmosphere such as a palace chamber or other small venue.
It has grown in popularity in recent years, partly due to the 2003 Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition – dubbed the ‘Olympics’ of chamber music.
The upcoming concert series will showcase some of Australia’s leading chamber music composers and musicians.
Chamber Music Australia artistic director Marco van Pagge has collaborated with Australian composer Kate Neal to bring together a vibrant collection of composers with a particular emphasis on Australian/Dutch musical connections.
The series will be broadcast on ABC Classic FM with interviews with performers and composers.
Music lovers won’t want to miss this great opportunity to hear some fine Australian music that is attracting new audiences, and being talked about around the globe.
