Yes, to complete the upgrade work will be required to install new nbn® equipment inside and outside of your premises.
To make sure you have a smooth upgrade, two important nbn® technician visits will take place.
You’ll only need to be home for one of them. iPrimus will book the required appointments and notify you via SMS of the appointment time.
1) Pre-installation visit
Here an nbn® approved technician will assess the outside of your premises. This will help them to identify any obstacles early and prepare for your upcoming installation appointment. nbn® will notify you via SMS ahead of the visit.
You don’t have to be home for this visit.
2) Installation appointment
The nbn® approved technician will install the new nbn equipment inside and outside your premises. In most cases this appointment will take between 3 to 4 hours. iPrimus will notify you via SMS of the appointment time.

The nbn® technician will install your new Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) service in parallel to your existing connection. There may be temporary service interruptions during the pre-installation visit and installation appointments.
To allow sufficient time for you to connect your modem or other internal equipment to the new fibre connection, iPrimus will leave your current service active for 6 days once the fibre upgrade is completed. You will only be billed for one service during this time.
Please contact our Technical Support team on 13 17 89 if you experience any issues or need any assistance.

The location of the new connection box can sometimes be negotiated with the nbn technician, but not always. nbn® will generally install the new connection box on the inside surface of an external wall, closest to the street.
Please note, it may not be possible to install the new connect box in the same location as where your original nbn technology connection points were.

Fibre-to-the-Node (FTTN) and Fibre-to-the-Curb (FTTC) both use a mix of copper and fibre optic technologies to bring the connection into your home.
Whereas Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) uses only fibre optic technology. The closer the fibre optic line is to your home, the more reliable the connection will be and the faster the speeds you can access.
